{Working Group Meeting, 28 May 2018 (Pskov)}

Modeling and design of sustainable urban transportation systems was the main topic of the working group meeting for the project “Cities.Multimodal: Change Cities – From Car Orientation to Sustainable Urban Mobility”, being a part of the INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Programme. The meeting was held at the Pskov City Administration on May 28.

The keynote addresses were delivered by experts – representatives of the Project on developing sustainable mobility and transportation planning: Olga Iakimenko, Head of Internet Projects and Marketing Communications at ICSER Leontief Centre and Alexey Levashev, Associate Professor of the Department of Transport Management and Logistics, Irkutsk National Research Technical University. Experts have shown how to create a sustainable multimodal transportation system in Pskov through the example of successful projects in Russian cities (Irkutsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Khabarovsk, Tyumen, Novorossiysk, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg) and international best practices.

The project Cities.Multimodal wants to make it easier for people in cities to combine walking, cycling, public transport and car-sharing as an environmentally friendly alternative to driving. The partners develop and apply an approach to sustainable urban mobility planning for such multimodal transport that is easy to adopt in the cities.
